Rising Star Award

Pricilla Stone (Articulation & Transfer Credit Officer, Vancouver Community College)

The Rising Star award recognizes individuals who “while early in their career, demonstrate exceptional leadership and accomplishment in the area of transfer and articulation within the BC Transfer System.”

Pricilla contributed significantly to the creation of VCC’s newly approved Prior Learning Assessment & Recognition (PLAR) policy and facilitated the updating of VCC course outlines and extensive rearticulation of related transfer agreements.

She demonstrates a clear commitment to enabling learner access and mobility, remarkable initiative while undertaking a wide range of responsibilities, and dedicated support for students.

"Pricilla will always advocate for a resolution that benefits the student while maintaining the academic integrity of our institution. Her dedication and interest in student mobility and recognition of prior learning, and the possibilities it presents for improving student success at VCC, are best represented by her dedication to and enthusiasm for her work in this field. Pricilla is a singular spirit and the Registrar's Office at VCC is a better place because of her diligence, skills, wisdom, and empathy."

Transfer & Articulation Service Award

Emily Gadzala (Student Advisor, Faculty of Environment, University of Northern British Columbia)

The Transfer & Articulation Service Award is a BCCAT Recognition Award specially introduced this year to commemorate BCCAT’s 35th anniversary and the 10th anniversary of the BCCAT Transfer Awards. These were launched internally, inviting nominations from BCCAT’s Council and standing committee members.

Emily is being recognized for her initiative in facilitating the creation of a wide range of new transfer pathways, her commitment to working constructively and proactively with faculty in support of transfer and articulation, and for her exceptional dedication to serving students and to supporting their educational journeys.

"Emily always seeks the best outcomes for individual students while also working with department faculty to maintain the integrity of our degrees and ensure desired degree-level learning outcomes. We are nominating Emily for the Transfer & Articulation Service Award for her exceptional, highly effective, innovative, and tireless work with students. We give Emily our strongest possible nomination for this award for her incredible efforts that have made a major difference in the lives and careers of hundreds of students at UNBC."
